I had a vision for our wedding cake and the Venue which we held our wedding at recommended Lou. She was as enthusiastic as us in the beginning about making our vision come alive, even offering to throw in a small red velvet cake box for me under our bride and groom top table, but due to her own personal circumstances along the way we found we were unsure about her ability to follow through due to the constant postponing of final designs, drawings and the delay in being able to see our dummy cake before the wedding (this was eventually seen two weeks before the wedding and needed still a lot of work doing to it!). She was also quite unprofessional and forgetful about the designs and the confirmed order i.e. the number of people the tray bakes were supposed to serve, the way we wanted the leaves etc around the cake and the colour of the shadow, despite this being clarified in the final document with the design and order description as well as a drawing which I also had to add to. We gave her all of the money in advance which obviously meant we just had to go through with it and just hope for the best that by the wedding day she will come through for us. A day before the wedding she showed me a picture of the cake this was during my pre-party with the leaves placed all over the cake haphazardly and the changes we wanted made were done by the morning of the wedding - although it still didn't look how I imagined it would on the day. As you can imagine this was quite stressful especially during a wedding.Overall the cake tasted good and we did receive compliments from our guests but I was hoping that the cake would live up to my expectations in real life and I feel like it didn't and there was no red velvet cake box either, which came as no surprise. Therefore, if I had to do my wedding over again unfortunately I probably would have used somebody else to do the wedding cake. I think when you are planning something as big as a wedding you should have people around you that are committed to delivering the service you have asked them to and you should be confident in their ability to do so, this goes a long way. Having dealt with other businesses and vendors during the wedding who were able to do this for me, I don't think for me that the year since I booked the wedding cake with Crazy Daisies Bakery and the constant back and forth, postponings, missed deadlines and stress so near to the wedding day was worth it for me. However, I have given three stars because she did deliver the wedding cake and it did light up which is what we wanted.
